I’ve found another magic tool and named it the Feng Shui Trash Day. If you do it for nine days, it will declutter your home and make room in your life for amazing surprises!
It isn’t about wind chimes and fountains but it does involve the Feng Shui baqua divison of your home into nine areas as shown in the diagram. Going counter clockwise from your front door, your home (and each room) is divided into Career, Helpful People and Travel, Children and Creativity, Love and Marriage, Fame, Wealth, Family, Wisdom and in the Center, your Health.
Good Feng Shui means placing congruent colors and objects where they will attract matching energy for what you want – like Money, Love or Children. And this is where we need to declutter your home because it keeps the qi force (energy) from flowing into and through your home to bring you every good thing.
How to do the Feng Shui Trash Day
- Eliminate 27 things on Day One each and every through Day 9.
- Start at the front door to clear that clutter, then go with the qi!
- Work your way around the bagua
- Start with easy things like dead batteries and overdue library books
- Feel the energy in your house change!
You can’t do this wrong – it’s your Feng Shui Trash Day and you’ll know what doesn’t belong in your home anymore. There aren’t any rules - just eliminate at least 27 every day.
And make sure they’re out of the house! A Goodwill bag doesn’t count until you drop it off. Throw them away, give them away or return them whence they came whether it’s the library, next door or the store where you bought it.
Benefits of the Feng Shui Trash Day
By the tenth day, you will declutter your home and whatever is blocked in your life will clear up:
- Drawers that don’t shut
- A desk where everything disappears
- “Lost” keys, glasses and tools
- Embarrassment about the way your house looks
- “Nothing to wear” because you can’t find it
Each Feng Shui Trash Day opened up time and people for me, too. I deleted hundreds of old emails and came across people I’d lost touch with and called as if they knew I’d been thinking fo them. You’ll find gift cards, even cash. I’ve even lost weight – I think that was part of my clutter, too!
Have fun with your own Feng Shui Trash Day!
